The Heart of Jesus

The Heart of Jesus.

Luke 7:11-17

Luke 7:11-17 (NKJ)

“11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd.
12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.
13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”
15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.
16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.”
17 And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.”

Excerpt From
NKJV

This is one of my favorite stories of Jesus, it’s right after the story of Jesus healing the centurion’s servant, where Jesus decides to go to the city of Nain. As he is walking up to the city and getting near the gate, he sees a funeral procession coming out of the city. He sees a mother crying, as she is going to bury her son.

Out of nowhere, Jesus walks right up in the middle of the funeral and says to her do not we, then he touches the casket, and says “young man I say to you arise.” Every time I read us a story grips me. I can see this mother all hope is gone, her son is dead. She will never see his smile again, or have any joyful experiences with the boy again. But here comes Jesus, he walks right up in the middle of this awful experience, unannounced, and brings joy and happiness back into this mother’s life, and raises her son.

Are you without hope? Do you feel like dreams have died never to revive again? Lost your job? Are you in despair? Well put your hope in Jesus, just when you least expect it he can come in and touch your situation and bring life back into your heart again. From first-hand experience, I can say, that Jesus has always been there for me. He’s come when I least expected it, sometimes I don’t even see him working in my life until I looked back and go oh my gosh there he was. You can put comfort in Jesus knowing he is watching over you, he will be there when you need them. Put your whole hearted trust in him, and you will not be disappointed, I guarantee it.
